How long is the boat trip from Sorrento to Capri?

The Gulf of Naples between Sorrento and Capri is roughly nine nautical miles of open water. With twin Mercury V10 400hp engines, our SACS covers it in about twenty minutes of comfortable cruising — faster on a flat sea, slower whenever you ask us to ease off for photos. Because the boat is yours for the day, the crossing is only the beginning: we time the departure around the light, the tides at the Blue Grotto and your plans, not a public schedule. Prefer to start further along the coast? We also run the Naples to Capri route.

Faraglioni, the Blue Grotto and secret swim stops

Once we reach the island the real tour begins. We glide beneath the three Faraglioni, pass through the natural arch of Faraglione di Mezzo and trace the cliffs to the Blue Grotto, where the light turns the water electric blue. Entry into the grotto is by small rowboat and depends on the sea, so we read conditions on the day and always have a beautiful plan B. Between sights we anchor in sheltered coves for swimming and snorkelling — the Green Grotto, the White Grotto and the calm water off Marina Piccola are all favourites. Frequently asked

How long does it take to get from Sorrento to Capri by boat?

On our SACS with twin 400hp engines the crossing takes about twenty minutes of relaxed cruising, roughly nine nautical miles across the Gulf of Naples. Because the boat is private, we set the pace and can slow down whenever you want photos.

Can we go inside the Blue Grotto?

Yes, whenever the sea allows. We bring you to the entrance of the Blue Grotto, where you transfer to a small rowboat for the visit (separate entry fee). If conditions close it, we switch to the equally striking Green and White grottoes.

Is a skipper included in the price?

Always. Every Strider Amalfi charter comes with a professional skipper on board who handles navigation, mooring and the Blue Grotto logistics. You never drive the boat yourself — you simply relax, swim and enjoy Capri at your own pace.

How many guests can join the trip?

The boat is yours for up to eight guests, fully private and never shared with strangers. It suits couples, families and small groups who want space on deck, sun pads and a calm, unhurried day around the island.

Where do we leave from in Sorrento?

We collect you from any marina in Sorrento — Marina Piccola, Marina Grande or your hotel's jetty where possible — at the time that suits you. Just tell us your preferred meeting point when you book and we'll arrange it.

How much does the Sorrento to Capri charter cost?

A single private day starts from €1,500, with fuel charged separately at the end based on the route. Multi-trip packages are available for guests planning several outings, and weekend and August dates carry a small surcharge.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Your safety and experience come first. If the sea or forecast makes the crossing unsafe, we reschedule the charter to another day or offer a full refund. You never lose your money to bad weather.
