Positano Sunset Boat Tour

A private charter into golden hour off Positano — aperitif on board, the village glowing amber, and a quiet cove before the sun goes down. Captain always included.

from €1.500

A Positano sunset boat tour is the most romantic way to see the Amalfi Coast — the hour when the cliffs turn amber, the pastel houses light up one by one, and the sea goes glassy and still. Strider Amalfi builds the whole evening around it: a private charter on a SACS rib with twin Mercury V10 engines, your own captain on board, and no one else but your group.\n\nWe cast off in the late afternoon, glide along the coast toward Positano and the Li Galli islands, drop anchor in a quiet cove for a swim, then open the aperitif as the light turns gold. You raise a glass on open water as the sun sinks into the Tyrrhenian, and cruise home beneath a Positano that glitters in the dusk. Elegant, unhurried and entirely yours.

The itinerary

5:00 PM

Boarding & welcome aperitif

Meet your captain, step aboard near Positano and settle in with a chilled glass of Prosecco as we ease out toward open water.

5:30 PM

Cruise the Positano coastline

Run along the pastel cliffs past Fornillo and Arienzo, the village stacked high above you and the scent of salt and lemon on the breeze.

6:15 PM

Swim stop in a quiet cove

Anchor off Li Galli or a sheltered inlet for a swim and a snorkel in clear water before the light begins to soften.

7:30 PM

Golden hour over Positano

Drift back toward the village as the limestone glows amber and the windows flicker on, house by house — the most photogenic moment of the day.

8:30 PM

Sunset toast on open water

A clear horizon, a full glass and the sun melting into the Tyrrhenian — the moment the whole evening is built around.

9:15 PM

Return beneath a lit-up Positano

Cruise home as the village shimmers against the dark cliffs, one of the most beautiful sights on the whole Costiera.

The boat: a SACS rib made for golden hour

Your sunset tour runs on a single SACS rib powered by twin Mercury V10 400hp engines — fast enough to reach the best light in minutes, then quiet and rock-steady once you drop anchor. The deck is finished in teak and soft leather, with shaded sun pads, a Bluetooth sound system and room for up to eight guests to stretch out. It is the only boat we run, so it is always immaculate, always private and always yours for the evening.

Aperitif on board as the light turns gold

This is an experience, not a shuttle. Once we clear the marina the captain opens the aperitif — chilled Prosecco, soft drinks and water — and the evening slows right down. There are no fixed seats, no strangers and no timetable to share: just your group, the music low, and the coast sliding past in the golden light.

Want the same boat for a full day on the water? See our Positano boat tour. Prefer to range further along the Costiera into the evening? Our Amalfi Coast sunset cruise follows the light past Amalfi and Li Galli.

Why Positano is the finest sunset from the sea

Few places face the evening light like Positano. The village climbs a natural amphitheatre of cliffs that catch the last sun head-on, so as the afternoon softens the houses turn from white to gold to rose and the windows begin to glow. From the water you see it whole — something you simply can't from the crowded beach or a restaurant terrace.

We time the run so you're on open water off the Li Galli islands for the sunset itself, with a clear horizon for the moment the sun drops. On calm evenings we can extend toward Capri and the Faraglioni; if a full island day tempts you, see our Capri boat tour from Positano.

Frequently asked

How much does a Positano sunset boat tour cost?

A private sunset charter starts from €1,500 (fuel excluded), captain included, for up to 8 guests. Weekend and holiday dates add €250, August €500 and August weekends €750. Travelling often? A 7-trip package is €7,499 and larger packages start from €14,998.

What time does the sunset tour start?

We usually board in the late afternoon, around 5:00 PM, so you reach open water for golden hour and toast the sunset around 8:30 PM in summer. Exact timing shifts with the season and the date, so we confirm it with you on WhatsApp.

Where does the Positano sunset tour depart from?

Our base is on the Amalfi Coast near Salerno and we operate across the whole Campania coastline. We can arrange boarding from Positano, Amalfi or Salerno, or another agreed point — just tell us where you are staying.

Is the captain included, and is the boat private?

Yes to both. Every sunset tour is a fully private charter with a professional captain on board the entire evening. The boat is yours alone — no shared seats with strangers — while we handle navigation, anchoring and finding the best light.

Is there an aperitif or food on board?

A welcome aperitif is included — chilled Prosecco, soft drinks and water served at sea. We can arrange a fuller catered spread or Champagne on request, and we're happy to suggest a dinner ashore in Positano to follow your cruise.

Is the sunset tour good for a proposal or special occasion?

It's one of the most romantic settings on the coast — perfect for proposals, anniversaries and celebrations. Tell us in advance and we'll discreetly plan the timing, the Champagne and the moment so everything is ready as the light turns gold.

What happens if the weather is bad?

If conditions are unsafe, your tour is fully flexible: reschedule to another date, transfer it to someone else, or receive a refund. We watch the forecast and contact you in advance, so plans are never left to chance.
