Capri Boat Tour from Positano

A private skippered crossing to Capri and back — the Faraglioni, the Blue Grotto and swim stops the ferries never reach, all on one premium SACS RIB.

from €1.500

Crossing from Positano to Capri on a private RIB is the fastest, most scenic way to reach the island — roughly 30 to 40 minutes of open water before the Faraglioni rise ahead of you. No timetables, no crowded decks: just your group, a skipper at the helm and the whole day to plan as you wish.

Strider Amalfi runs a single premium SACS RIB powered by twin Mercury V10 engines, so this Capri boat tour from Positano is always exclusive. You set the rhythm — sea caves, swim stops, the Blue Grotto, lunch ashore — and we take care of every mile in between.

The boat: one SACS RIB, built for the crossing

Strider Amalfi is a single, carefully kept SACS RIB with twin Mercury V10 400hp engines — enough power to clear the Positano–Capri channel quickly and enough hull to stay composed when the open water gets lively. On deck you'll find teak flooring, leather seating, broad sunpads, a shaded area, a fridge, a Bluetooth sound system, phone charging and a swim ladder for easy access to the water.

Because we charter only this one boat, your day is never shared with another group. It's the comfort of a private yacht with the speed and intimacy of a RIB — ideal for couples, families and small groups who want Capri without the crowds.

Timing & navigation: Positano to Capri

The run from Positano to Capri is around 16 nautical miles, which our RIB covers in roughly 30 to 40 minutes depending on the sea. We recommend an early start: leaving in the morning means calmer water for the crossing and a better chance of reaching the Blue Grotto before the ferry traffic builds up.

A standard charter runs about six to eight hours, leaving plenty of time for the Faraglioni, the grotto, a long swim stop and lunch. Prefer the golden hour? We can extend the day and bring you home along the coast at sunset.

Why a private charter beats a group tour

On a shared ferry or group excursion you follow someone else's clock. With a private charter you decide: linger longer at the Faraglioni, add a second swim stop, skip the grotto if the swell is up, or stay ashore in Capri until you're ready to leave.

Your skipper knows these waters and the best coves of the moment, handles all the navigation and mooring, and reads the sea so you don't have to. From the same base we also cover the wider Amalfi Coast and Campania, so a Capri day is easy to combine with Positano, Amalfi or a sunset run.

Frequently asked

How long does it take to get from Positano to Capri by boat?

On our SACS RIB the crossing takes roughly 30 to 40 minutes, covering about 16 nautical miles. Exact timing depends on the sea state on the day. Because the boat is private, we can also slow down or stop along the way whenever you like.

How much does a private Capri boat tour from Positano cost?

A single private day starts from €1,500, with fuel charged separately based on the route. Seasonal surcharges apply: +€250 on weekends and holidays, +€500 in August and +€750 on August weekends. Message us on WhatsApp for an exact quote for your dates.

Can we go inside the Blue Grotto on this tour?

Yes, sea conditions permitting. We line up at the Grotta Azzurra and you enter on a small local rowboat with a separate fee paid on site. Because access depends on swell and tide, entry can't be guaranteed, but it's a highlight whenever it's open.

Do we need a boat licence or any experience?

No. A professional skipper is always included and handles all the navigation and mooring. You simply relax on board. This is a fully crewed private charter, not a bareboat rental, so no licence or boating experience is required.

How many people can come on board?

The boat takes up to 8 guests and is always private to your group — never shared with strangers. It's a great fit for couples, families and small groups of friends who want Capri at their own pace, with space to relax on deck.

What is the best time to leave Positano for Capri?

We suggest an early-morning departure: the water is usually calmer for the crossing and you reach the Blue Grotto before the ferry crowds. A full day runs about six to eight hours, and we can extend it to bring you back along the coast at sunset.

What happens if the weather is bad?

If conditions don't allow a safe, enjoyable day at sea, your charter is reschedulable, refundable or transferable. Your skipper monitors the forecast closely and will always recommend the safest, most scenic plan for the day.
